TESTIMONIALS
Female Client - "I had always been very sceptical about counselling believing that talking to a complete stranger couldn't help, however it proved to be my salvation - I wasn't losing my marbles after all!"
Female Client - "Counselling has helped me to overcome long held insecurities and allowed me to look to the future in a more positive frame of mind and free from fear. I can now look to the future without being weighed down by my past."
Young Person Male aged 17 - "Counselling meant I could talk about my anxieties in a way I would never have dared with my parents. Some practical hints helped me cope with the stress of exams and life in general."
Male client aged 35 - "Looking back, I should have come to counselling sooner - it has made such a great difference to my life."
Male Client - "Counselling has enabled me to talk openly about my problems to someone who listens. It has helped me to take stock of my life and to look at things from a different perspective. It has enabled me to build my confidence and to help me mature as a person."
Young Person Male aged 12 - "I found out that it was easier to talk to a stranger than to someone I knew. Also I knew my confidentiality was safe with my counsellor. I didn't know what to expect at first. I was a bit scared but my counsellor soon became a friend and I looked forward to going. "Having counselling was something that belonged only to me. I didn't have to share it with anyone."
Female client aged 42 - "Counselling helped me to look not only at the focal cause of my anxiety and depression and to rationalise that hurt; but also to look at me, my expectations and perhaps how these need to be modified. Counselling is not easy, it is a challenge, but a life improving one.
It is said that after depression, you come out stronger and more developed from your challenge. Without counselling and direction, I'm not sure I may have found that focus for development. I would still be floundering around, lost and without a map. The direction comes from within yourself, but you need the facilitation and discipline counselling provides to explore with a focus and find it. I'm not sure I am quite there yet, but counselling has provided a very good map and I believe I am on the right road!"
Female aged 35 - "Talking things through with someone knowledgeable has been extremely helpful in overcoming depression and learning to live with unavoidable life stresses. It's been particularly good to learn about known patterns of thought and behaviour, to recognise myself in the situation, and to learn about and then try out better ways of dealing with things.
For me counselling has been a lot like having music lessons - while I've still needed to put in the practice and hard work, it's been very helpful to receive support and guidance from an expert who can see patterns which I might miss, give me directions as to what exercise to try next, and give an outside view of my progress."
Male client aged 38 - "Counselling helped me deal with my demons and saved my marriage. It was not easy doing it, but looking back it was the best thing I ever did."
