Phone me (Joy Scholes) on 01462 700220 or or email info@greenacre-counselling.co.uk. You do not have to discuss the specifics of your particular problem at this point, although it can be helpful to give me a general indication, so we can think about whether I am the right person to help you.
Think about the times and days that would suit you best. Most sessions last around 50 minutes. It is easier if you have some time free during the day, as the evening sessions often have waiting lists.
Before the first session ...
Prior to your first session you will receive some information and a short optional questionnaire to fill in and bring with you. Most people find it helpful to complete as it helps them think about the problem(s) they want to discuss.
The first session ...
I will outline the rules on confidentiality and will probably ask you more questions in order to get some clear background. You will have the opportunity to talk about why you have come to counselling and to experience what it feels like to work with a counsellor.
At the end of the session, you can decide if it feels right to continue. We'll agree the initial number of sessions involved and some dates and times for your future sessions. I will also outline the fee involved.
"I had always been very sceptical about counselling believing that talking to a complete stranger couldn't help. However it proved to be my salvation - I wasn't losing my marbles after all!"
